Nonprofits do important work in our community. Investments need to be made in the talented nonprofit workforce that drives that work in order to ensure maximum organizational impact. Join us as Rusty Stahl, founder of Fund the People, makes the case for investing in nonprofit talent and equips participants with a set of tools to help funders and fundraisers build talent-investment into their work. Fund the People (fundthepeople.org) envisions a powerful, diverse and well-supported nonprofit workforce able to reach their missions and contribute significant value to the community.

The second half of the program will feature an interactive discussion among a panel of professionals and those in attendance on the need to invest in building strong nonprofit staff in order to achieve mission goals. Our panel members are:

Our Speaker

Rusty Stahl is a successful nonprofit executive, social entrepreneur, expert in philanthropy, and advocate for staff development in the nonprofit sector. Stahl launched Fund the People in 2014 to maximize investment in the nonprofit workforce. He has built a diverse group of champions from across the field; secured investments from major national foundations; created and gathered important research; and built a practical toolkit to help funders and fundraisers mobilize investments in nonprofit talent.

Since 2013, Rusty has served as a Visiting Fellow in Residence at the New York University’s Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. From 2002 to 2012, Rusty founded and served as Executive Director of Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy (EPIP), the national association of young and new foundation professionals. During his time at EPIP, Stahl organized a membership network of thousands of diverse next-generation leaders; helped members to organize 13 local and statewide chapters from Boston to Honolulu; and developed unique philanthropic education programs. His work helped to shape a more professional, welcoming, diverse and multi-generational foundation field. He previously served as a Program Associate at the Ford Foundation, where he supported grantmaking to strengthen American philanthropy and the nonprofit sector.

Rusty has served on numerous nonprofit board and advisory committees. He holds a Masters in Philanthropic Studies from Indiana University’s Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. He is a third-generation Philadelphian and currently resides in Beacon, NY, with his wife and their young daughter.

Program qualifies for 3 hours of CFRE credit.    

   

Cost to Attend

 

$60 for members (no additional fee for Season Pass holders), $85 for the first nonmember guest, and $75 for additional guests.

AFP members may register at the member rate, but a registration code is required. E-mail admin@vafre.org to receive your code.

Please note there is a special student/intern fee of $30 for full-time students and interns working at a nonprofit organization.

Fees support program costs and administration. Registrations should be received no later than Wednesday, March 2nd.

Cancellation Policy

 

Credits for a future meeting or refunds will be given if notification of cancellation is received at VAFRE’s office prior to noon on the Thursday before a regular Tuesday meeting. If cancellation is received after the Thursday before a regular Tuesday meeting, credits and refunds will be given at the discretion of the Management Company based on the number of late registrations received. In the event of illness or an emergency, credits or refunds may be granted at the discretion of the Management Company.
