The VAFRE e-news

From the President

Dear VAFRE Members -

I began my year as your President by expressing my thanks and it seems the appropriate way to end my tenure as well.

Thank you, Members, for being part of this organization – you make it vital and relevant!  Your enthusiasm and engagement with each other is palpable.  Networking is one of the many benefits of membership, along with the stellar education programs and more.

Thank you, Board Members, for the outstanding job each one of you did this year.  Membership socials and gift card drawings, outstanding Programs, another successful year for P3, improved Communications, an inspiring Awards program, and all the behind-the-scenes support you provided.

I’d like to thank my executive committee, Dan Stackhouse, Thomas Millisor and David Thomason for their advice and counsel throughout the year.  You guys are the best!

My deep appreciation to our Sponsors.  Your support of VAFRE makes a difference in all that we do and provide for our members.  Thank you!

My thanks to all of the speakers, panelists, moderators and others who gave up their time to share their knowledge with us over lunch, at our National Speaker program, or at the Awards program.

And finally, my thanks to Mary Kidd and Lindsay Larkin, our administrative supports this year.  Trust me when I tell you they made everything run smoothly!

It has been an honor and a privilege serving as your President.  Thank you!

Susan Early

This month, we highlight our outgoing VAFRE president. She has done an outstanding job and has positioned VAFRE well for future. Thank you, Susan!

Q: What is one skill you rely on to be successful in your fundraising role?

Listening. It’s hard to do, especially listening through silences in a conversation. But, if you can do that and pay attention to everything about the other person, you will gain a wealth of information. Read more...
