Welcome to the beginning of Fall!

This is crunch time for many of us, with Annual Fund appeals beginning to land in mailboxes and inboxes, The Amazing Raise about to make another big impact for the Richmond community, and hopefully that influential donor has finally agreed to that meeting you’ve been asking for since June.  

Though it can seem hard, be sure to take a few minutes each day for your own professional development.  Do you have a question that’s been on your mind?  Why not visit VAFRE’s LinkedIn page and post it there?  Just like our monthly meetings, our LinkedIn page is a great place to gain knowledge from our impressive colleagues from across the Richmond Region, and share a few insights of your own.  

We are so fortunate to be a community of professionals working together for the greater good.  Thank you for doing your part!

Upcoming Programs 

Join Jenn Cornell and Harry Warner of West Avenue Associates for our luncheon on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, for Best of the Best: A Regional Donor Acknowledgment Survey. They will examine the results of a recent  “blind” survey of the donor acknowledgments practices of 25 Richmond-area non-profit organizations. Lunch will be served at noon with the program following.

Also, be sure to mark your calendar for an upcoming VAFRE luncheon on November 3rd, when Linda Schriener, the President of CildSavers Board of Directors and former Senior VP with MeadWestvaco, will join us to discuss Talent Management.

Things Get Spooky at VAFRE's Next Social!    

What goes bump in the night and during the day in Richmond will be exposed at VAFRE’s next social on Thursday, October 22. Join VAFRE for a Halloween themed social at the Poe Museum in Richmond starting at 5:30 pm.

The evening will begin with a “Richmond’s Strange Stories” walking tour of the area presented by Richmond Discoveries. This tour will unearth interesting stories of the area with a slightly spooky twist. At the conclusion of the 1-hour tour we will end at the Poe Museum’s Enchanted Garden for their monthly Unhappy Hour. This Unhappy Hour is coined as the spookiest one of the season and will feature live music, light appetizers, performances, and a cash bar.  The theme for the evening is Poe’s story “The Cask of Amontillado”.  You are welcome to dress up if you wish.

It is $10 per person for the walking tour and entrance into the Unhappy Hour. If you would like to join us for Unhappy Hour only, you can pay $5 at the door.

Friends, family, and co-workers are welcome to attend.

P3 Program Begins Third Year  

The seventeen members who signed up for the 2015-2016 P3 program will begin their year with an Orientation meeting and celebratory kick-off event on Wednesday, October 7th. The team Leaders, program alumni and VAFRE Board members will also be joining them to celebrate the start of another year of the Professional Partnership Program.
