Who's Next? Submit Your Award Nominations!

If you take a moment and think about it, I’m certain you can think of a seasoned Development professional who has inspired you in your career, or a young gun who really impresses you. Isn’t it time they joined the ranks of VAFRE’s award winners?

Each year, VAFRE is honored to recognize some of the best development talent in the area with our Nina Abady and Rising Star Awards. Nominations are now being accepted for the 2023 Awards. All nominations should be submitted by January 31st.

The Nina Abady Award is presented to a fundraising professional who has demonstrated utmost excellence in the field of development. The award signifies to individuals, organizations, and the greater community that the recipient has garnered the respect and admiration of colleagues throughout the Commonwealth for professional and ethical service.  Learn more about the Nina Abady Award.

The Rising Star Award is made annually to an individual who exhibits excellent potential and who has demonstrated remarkable talents at an early stage in their fund-raising career (less than ten years in development). Learn more about the Rising Star Award.

Both Awards are open to members of VAFRE and the Central Virginia Chapter AFP.

                In Case You Missed It

VAFRE Members, if you didn't get to join us for the December or January programs, you really need to check out the recordings on the Members Only page of the website.

In December, we were joined by Emma Yackso, Director of Community Programs at the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities, who discussed how we can better foster equity and inclusive communication in fundraising. The recording qualifies for 1.5 hours of CFRE Credit.

The January program featured Sheila Battle, who discussed burnout, boundaries and balance and how fundraisers can combat and manage the many stressors they encounter in their tasks.
